Urdd Gobaith Cymru
Due to COVID-19 outbreak timings for extra curricular activities may differ.
The Urdd organise activities for members that range from small workshops on how to run a school radio station to huge events such as the Urdd Eisteddfod; a festival that lasts a week and which has tens of thousands of visitors each year as well as being broadcast live on S4C. The Urdd is the largest youth organisation in Wales.
"The Urdd has nurtured generations of young men and women to be proud of their country, open to the world and living embodiments of our language and culture, along with the universal values which we cherish in Wales. Over 4 million children and young people have been members of the Urdd since its beginning back in 1922. The significance of the institution in Wales cannot be over-emphasised. Its contribution to generations in Wales, to the lives and confidence, and mental health of our young people over the years has been immense." Urdd Gobaith Cymru
The Urdd also organise competitions which include sports (rugby, football, swimming and much more); cooking, writing; and the arts such as performing, dancing and acting which can be seen predominantly at the Eisteddfod.
Another noteworthy aspect of the Urdd's work is their provision of Welsh language residential centres such as Llangrannog, Glan-llyn, The Millenium Centre and Pentre Ifan which pupils will have the opportunity to visit during their time in our school.
The Urdd also organise outdoor activities such as mountaineering, camping, river walking, rafting and much much more all lead by an experienced professional.
As well as all of the above, regular trips abroad are also organised for members. More information can be gathered from the school.
