The Learning Support Department supports pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) in a variety of ways. By working closely with our primary schools, we aim to identify ALN early in order to begin planning necessary interventions. We have a small class placement for pupils with significant learning needs in Welsh, English and Maths. In addition, we have several shorter-term intervention programmes to support literacy and numeracy.

In September 2020, a target group of pupils who would benefit from specialist input in order to improve their standards of literacy will be taught Welsh, History, Geography and Religious Education by two teachers. The aim is to ensure a targeted support for pupils in these subjects, within a smaller class. The work will be tailored, especially to suit their needs.
