More able and Talented

How do we challenge pupils in Bro Morgannwg?

  • A Challenge Leader has been appointed to lead and monitor the provision.
  • Collaboration with specialist agencies such as NACE.
  • Collaboration with the Seren Academy at both county and national levels to provide additional opportunities for more able and talented Year 8-13 students.
  • Continuous professional development opportunities for staff focused on pedagogy that enables teachers to ‘teach to the top’.
  • Raising staff awareness of the need to identify more able and talented students and providing a curriculum that meets their needs.
  • Establishing a register of more able and talented students and distributing it to staff.
  • Where appropriate, some students study additional or advanced GCSE and A-level subjects earlier than their peers.
  • Encouragement to complete university-level courses, such as Openlearn courses.
  • Opportunities for more able and talented students to enrich their learning through various experiences offered by departments, such as research tasks, leadership experiences, cross-school collaboration and work experience.
  • Encouraging students to take advantage of the school’s wide range of extracurricular experiences as well as local and national clubs, competitions, and residential courses.
