Barnardo’s Vale of Glamorgan School & Community Based Counselling service

Barnardo’s provides a professional, independent counselling service for children and young people aged 9-19 living in the Vale of Glamorgan.
Counselling supports children and young people to cope better with personal and relationship problems, adverse life events and developmental processes. It offers opportunities to explore, understand and resolve problems while developing personal and social resources, coping strategies and psychological resilience. 
Counselling is provided via 1:1 sessions to support children in respect of their health, emotional and social needs. School based counsellors are located in all high schools and delivery to year 6 pupils is provided within the community alongside a dedicated community slot for those able to access the service independently.

We will then send you a referral form using an encryption system which means that the details you share with us are safe.  

Once the counsellor receives your referral they will see you as soon as a space becomes available.    

You can also talk to a member of staff in school that you trust. This may be your form/year tutor or a member of the pastoral care team, they can help to make a referral to the counsellor too.
